· The simplest way to maintain ALC menus.

You must have *CHANGE authority to a menu to change the menu attributes or to add, change and delete menu options. You must have *ALL authority to a menu to edit the authority for the menu.
Users require *USE authority to access a menu, and *USE authority to each option on the menu they are authorized to access. Options that the user is not authorized to run do not appear on their menu.
To create a new menu, do one of the following:
· Select option 2 from the ALC menu.
· Prompt the Create ALC Menu (CRTALCMNU) command at any command line.

To maintain an ALC menu while viewing the menu, position the cursor to the menu option you want to change, or key a menu option number on the command line and press one of the following function keys. If the cursor is not positioned to a valid menu option and no option number is entered on the command line, you will be prompted for the option number.
Note: You can position the cursor to the text for a user-defined function key to change the corresponding menu option.

F23=Maintenance |
A pop-up window is displayed, allowing you to select a maintenance function. You can create, change, copy, delete and move menu options. You can also set the authority for users to access menu options. In addition, you can change the attributes and authority for the menu itself. When you exit the maintenance window, ALC remembers the last function you performed. To repeat the same function for a different menu option, position the cursor to the option and press F22. |

The text for this function key will change to reflect the last function selected from the maintenance pop-up window. The F22 key is initially set to "Change". To change the function associated with the F22 key, Key F23 to display the maintenance window, select an option and press F12 to close the window. To repeat the last function for a menu option, position the cursor to the option and press F22. |

Maintenance and administrative functions are collected on menu ALC in library ALC. Once your library list is set correctly, you can display menu ALC by entering the following command:

The ALC menu options are discussed below in the order that they appear on the menu.
2. Create a Menu.
Use this option to create a new menu.
The Create ALC Menu (CRTALCMNU) command prompt will be displayed.

3. Change a Menu.
Use this option to change an existing menu.
The Change ALC Menu (CHGALCMNU) command prompt will be displayed.

4. Copy a Menu.
Use this option to copy an entire menu.
All menu attributes, options and authorities are copied. When you press Enter, The Copy ALC Menu (CPYALCMNU) command prompt is displayed.

5. Edit Authority
for a Menu.
Use this option to control which users can access a menu. The Edit Object Authority (EDTOBJAUT)
command prompt will be displayed.

6. Delete a Menu.
Use this option to delete a menu and all of its menu options. The Delete ALC Menu (DLTALCMNU) command prompt
will be displayed.

7. Rename a Menu.

Rename Object (RNMOBJ) command prompt will be displayed.

8. Move a Menu.
Use this option to move a menu to a different library. The Move Object (MOVOBJ) command prompt will

9. Save a Menu.
Use this option to save a menu to tape or to a save file. All menu attributes, options and authorities
are saved The Save ALC Menu (SAVALCMNU)
command prompt will be displayed.

10. Restore a
Menu.
Use this option to restore a menu from tape or a save file. The Restore ALC Menu (RSTALCMNU) command
prompt will be displayed.

11. Work With
Menus.
Use this option to work with a list of menus in your library list. You can select any menu from the list to
display or change.

Use this option to create a new menu option.

Attributes.

Use this option to view or change the default settings for the ALC product.

38. Rebuild
Menus.
Use this option to rebuild one or more menus after restoring your entire system
from backup.. The Rebuild Menu (RBDALCMNU) command prompt
will be displayed.

39. Clean
Control Info.
If you accidentally delete a menu with the DLTMNU command rather than the DLTALCMNU command, control information for the menu remains after
the menu object is deleted. Use this option whenever you like to remove any internal control information that no longer has an associated ALC
menu
40. Convert Menu.
Use this option to convert a non-ALC menu to ALC. The original menu is not
changed.
