What's New in Release 3.1?

bullet Display User Authority.  Display User Authority (DSPALCAUT) command has been enhanced to allow you to display the authority information to an output file for further analysis.  In addition, a new parameter allows you to show either the actual authority users have to access menu options, taking into account whether they are authorized to access the menu itself, or the authority the user would have to access a menu's options if they were authorized to access the menu.

bullet Grant and Revoke Option Authority.  Two new commands, Grant Menu Option Authority (GRTOPTAUT) and Revoke Menu Option Authority (RVKOPTAUT) have been added to make it easy to set menu option authorities within a CL program.  These commands are modeled on the GRTOBJAUT and RVKOBJAUT commands, allowing you to set authorities directly or by referencing the authority of another menu option.

What's New in Release 3.0?

bullet User-Defined Function Keys.  This version of ALC allows menu administrators to define up to 14 different function keys per menu.  Each function key can be tied to an arbitrary  program or command, and authority to access a function key can be controlled by user and groups of users

bullet Maintain Menus While Using Them.  Any user with *CHANGE authority to a menu can use function keys to add, change, copy and delete menu options while viewing the menu itself.  There is no need to learn a separate maintenance program.  A new pop-up window lets authorized users quickly select maintenance tasks.

bullet Last Used Information.  Information about the last time menu options were used is now tracked.  New reports allow administrators to quickly list menu options that have/have not been used since a given date.

bullet Menu Initialization.  A new feature allows for a user-written program to be called whenever a new menu is created.  This makes it easy to add a standard set of function keys and menu options to every menu.

bullet Block Move.  Administrators can now move entire blocks of menu options from one location to another on a menu, eliminating the need to move options one-by-one.

What's New in Release 2.3?

bullet Distribute menus to other systems.  It's now easier than ever to distribute menus to other AS/400s.  The Restore Menu (RSTALCMNU) command has been enhanced in two ways:  You can now restore menus from CD.  In addition, new options allow you to choose whether to preserve or replace existing authority when restoring a menu on top of an existing menu.  These enhancements make it easier for software developers to ship modified versions of menus to their customers, while preserving the customers' menu authority settings.

bullet Bug Fix.  In previous releases, the current values were not shown when changing a menu option that had text containing apostrophes.  This has been fixed.
