Installing From the CD Image

Follow these steps if you downloaded the CD image version of CD builder:

  1. If you have not already done so, move the CdbImg.exe file to an empty folder and double click on CdbImg.exe to expand the file.

  2. Use your PC CD-ROM software to copy all of the files (excluding the CdbImg.exe and CDB_Order_Form.doc files) to a data CD.

  3. Insert the new CD into your AS/400 CD-ROM drive.

  4. Sign on as QSECOFR.

  5. Run the command: LODRUN *OPT

Installing From the Save File Image

Follow these steps if you downloaded the save file version of CD Builder.

These instructions assume that you have already downloaded CdbSav.exe, expanded the file, and transferred the data to a save file on your AS/400. See  Transferring Data to an AS/400 Save File for more information.

If you used Install Aid/400 to transfer the downloaded save file to your AS/400 and you selected the Custom or Generic installation option, there's nothing more you need to do. Otherwise:

If you have Remote Software Facility (RSF) installed on your system:

  1. Sign on as QSECOFR.

  2. Run the following command, inserting the actual name and library of the save file you are installing from:

      RSF/INLRSFPKG SAVF(library_name/save_file_name)

  3. Installation is complete. Enter GO CDB/CDB to see the main menu.

If you do not have Remote Software Facility installed on your system:

  1. Sign on as QSECOFR.

  2. If you have a previous version of CD Builder installed on your system, run the following command to rename the library.  The library cannot be in another job's library list during the rename:

      RNMOBJ OBJ(CDB) OBJTYPE(*LIB) NEWOBJ(CDBOLD)

  3. Run the following command to restore library CDB:

      RSTLIB SAVLIB(CDB) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(library_name/save_file_name)

  4. If you had a previous version of CD Builder installed, run the following command to copy your data from the previous version:

      CDB/CPYCDBDTA OLDLIB(CDBOLD) NEWLIB(CDB)

  5. Installation is complete. Enter GO CDB/CDB to see the main menu.

Installing The Transfer and SAVSYS Tools

The CD Builder Transfer and SAVSYS Tools are software programs that run on the PC.  To install either tool:

  1. Make sure the downloaded file is placed in a folder by itself.  Double-click on the downloaded .exe file to expand it.

  2. Double-click on setup.exe to begin the installation.  Follow the instructions on the screen.
